Virtual Event

Overview:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Family Centered Services of CT (FCS) needed to plan their annual Domestic Violence Awareness Event in October as a virtual event rather than an in-person one as they have done in the past. This required FCS to completely pivot in approach to ensure that they met their awareness and participation goals.

Approach:

Walker’s Digital Marketing Solutions team collaborated with FCS on the following:

  • Strategy for the event to ensure sponsorships were secured and participation was increased from prior years.
  • Creation of the website Event page and Eventbrite event registration page (including assisting with content writing)
  • Editing of a topic expert video
  • Creation of a Domestic Violence Resources page for the website.
  • Creation of social media posts (including post calendar, content writing and asset creation).

While the main goal of the event was for awareness, with the secondary goal being donations, Walker's Managing Partners pledged to pay $.50/mile for all Walker's staff participation in the event!

Outcome:

As a result of these efforts and collaboration, FCS exceeded their participation goal by 65% and, by sharing the event on many personal Facebook pages, we helped to increase awareness in the community regarding this very important topic.

"Family Centered Services of CT was grateful to have the expert assistance of The Walker Group to guide us through our first Domestic Violence Awareness Month virtual event. We were novices to virtual event planning when we began. From the design of an Event Page to the development and implementation of a digital marketing strategy, their work was key to making the event a success. Our goal was to register 200 participants and our final total was 310 participants, who were willing to Walk, Run and Ride to End Domestic Violence. The Walker Group took the cause to heart and made us feel like part of the Walker “family”.
